Staff at the Black United Fund of Oregon would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who help us throught the year. We will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 22nd, if you have volunteered in the past, or would like to come and mingle with staff and board, please join us!

Where: Grand Cafe, 832 SE Grand Ave

When: April 22, 2010 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Light food will be provided and you will recieve a ticket for 1/2 off drinks.

America’s Got Talent Taping LIVE!

The Black United Fund is organizing a group of staff, volunteers, and supporters to attend NBC’s America’s Got Talent live taping. It will take place in Portland at the Keller Auditorium on March 18th.
There are two time slots to choose from: 1pm-6pm or 5pm-10:30pm.
Please contact Anela at apuljic@bufor.org if you would like to attend for FREE by Friday March 5th, 2010! Family and friends are welcome, please let us know if you would like to bring guests.
The minimum age to attend is 14 and the show will donate $5 per person in attendance to the Black United Fund of Oregon.

Volunteer at our Annual Community Unity Banquet: February 17th, 2010

This year’s banquet, themed “Black United Fund Grantees Have Talent”, will be play a vital role in sharing our mission, raising much needed funds, showcasing our scholarship recipients and stories of changed lives.

The success of our banquet cannot be accomplished without individuals like yourself who lend their time and talents as a volunteer for this special evening. Volunteering for this event will consist of a one-hour training session prior to the event and serving no more than 2.5 hours at the event. There are a number of areas for which we are seeking volunteers. Here is a list of some example volunteer roles:

  • Drivers
  • Banquet & Auction Set-Up
  • Registration & Cashier
  • Line & Floor Directors
  • Clean-Up
